At about sixty kilometers from Nantes, in Plessé, is the Domain of Carheil, a former castle (which was destroyed) and its dependences. On the domain, camellias has the peculiarity to be cut in ball, what is rather unusual, especially for big subjects. Accessible by car only. To visit besides parks of Nantes, between March and April (according to the weather of previous months).
In 2013, SNH (Société Nantaise d'Horticulture) has organized the baptism of 'Héloïse de Carheil', raised by Alfred Lemaitre. Above, the building which hosted the show, below a glimpse of it.
Let us visit the Domain. You can appreciate the size of camellias, besides some photos of blooming flowers.
